History
Sacramento Balloon Company, originally known as Sacramento Balloon and Toy Company, began in 2002 by Terry and Barbara McKinney. When Terry McKinney opened the door to Sacramento Balloon and Toy Company, he already had over 50 years of experience in the balloon business in Utah and other areas of California. The McKinney's were looking to retire because they were getting older and wanted to see more of their children and grandchildren. The McKinney's wanted to sell their business to someone who would put the same love, compassion and effort that they did into the store and to have the same employment working with balloons.
It was at this time that Steve Rostratter stumbled upon an article in The Sacramento Bee about a man who was looking to sell his balloon store. After very careful consideration and visitations to the store, Steve Rostratter approached Terry McKinney to discuss buying the store. It was a moment that Mr. Rostratter would describe as "The hardest, most intense, and the deepest interview of his life." After a month long interview, filled with days of getting a feel for what being owner of the store would entail and getting to know the Rostratter family, Terry McKinney finally sold the store. In August 2007, Steve and Cathy Rostratter renamed the store to Sacramento Balloon Company.
Despite becoming owners of a Sacramento Balloon Company, the Rostratter family lacked experience with balloons besides coming across the occasional birthday bouquet. Seeing this, the McKinney's took the Rostratter's under their wing and they became apprentices in balloon art for about two months. During this time the McKinney's and Rostratter's worked together to understand all the ins and outs of the store.
Currently, the Rostratter's maintain a retail location with 2,900 sq. ft. of balloons, helium and balloon accessories. They are here to offer the community with unique balloons and balloon decor that will enhance and make any event more memorable. "Sacramento Balloon Co. When just any balloon won't do."
